Legacy III, Tournaments, March Break Camp & GBF Fridays
Hello Everyone,
The third instalment of Legacy Kickboxing Championships is coming up fast March 10th and 50% of tables are already sold out. Kru Mark is excited to bring you another action packed night of fights with three title belts that will be on the line that night.
We have currently have 15 exciting fights planned for that night with the main event seeing Stephan Lamarche return to the ring! Barrhaven Martial Arts Centre/Gracie Barra Ottawa will have at least nine fighters that night. Come on out and enjoy a great night of fights and support your teammates. We have tickets available for purchase at the GBOE.
Upcoming Jiu Jitsu tournaments the team is supporting and fundraising
Hey Everyone, the scene of jiu jitsu has exploded over recent years. Years ago Mark and Nick would have to travel to the United States and now we have the opportunity to compete in our own backyard almost every month. We wanted to put out a list of tournaments in the first half of the year the team will be supporting, (in other words sending a coach to).
March 18th Ottawa BJJ Open Spring Edition
April 23rd ADCC Open No Gi (Adults Only)
May 7th Ontario Open Oshawa
May 28th Compnet – Gracie Barra tournament
June 24th- OSS: Ottawa Jiu Jitsu Championship (Professor Nicks tournament)
Please remember before you register talk to your instructor and seek their guidance if this is the right time for you to compete. Every child must receive clearence from their instructors before being registered, also children must be enrolled in the advance program to ensure they are getting the necessary level of training required. This ensures they are prepared for the tournament.
Lastly we are looking for a parent/volunteer at each school to help with fundraising for two main things:
- The coaches time, who sometimes will end up spending the whole day at a tournament, including gas, sometimes hotel and food.
- To provide financial support to our rising stars in the schools (kids and young adults). That can be covering registrations, helping with travel (gas/flights)
Also for the parents/volunteers who aid us in this we will be sure to take care of you at our school as well. So if you are interested in helping us please respond to this email.
March Break Camp is the Mandalorian meets Boba Fett
This March Break, your children have the opportunity to learn the way of the Mandalorian! This warrior creed was bound by culture and code, inspired by courage, and motivated by their martial prowess. This week, campers will learn about the Mandalorian warriors, participate in speciality training to ensure their skills are up to the Mandalorian standard, and outfit themselves in Mandalore armour. All this will culminate in an epic battle with the Empire!

To further Gracie Barra’s mission that Jiu Jitsu is for everyone on Fridays GBOE will have a GBF (women’s only) class from 6 to 7pm. This class will be taught by World Champion – Coach Sam and supported by our awesome team of women warriors. Come and join the worlds largest team.
